How Esmée Fairbairn Foundation is supporting The Wildlife Trusts

Esmée Fairbairn Foundation has supported The Wildlife Trusts to protect and preserve wildlife on land and at sea for many years.

Core funding

Core funding from Esmée Fairbairn Foundation is helping The Wildlife Trusts to deliver our 2030 strategy and restore nature at scale on land and at sea. Because the grant is unrestricted, we are able to use the funding wherever it is needed most.

Developments at sea

Renewable sources of energy, like offshore wind, are essential if we are to transition away from a reliance on fossil fuels and tackle the climate emergency. Offshore renewable energy, particularly offshore wind, is a fast-growing industry. However, if done in the wrong way, the construction of offshore wind farms can harm our precious marine environment and lead to the loss of marine habitats and wildlife.

With funding help from Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, the Wildlife Trusts are working to reduce the negative environmental impact of offshore wind developments in the marine environment by providing specialist advice to developers. We are also working with the government and decision makers in the industry to ensure future offshore wind farm development is planned strategically and that the right technology is being used in the right place to help nature recover.
