Nemonte Nenquimo

Nemonte is a Waorani woman, mother, climate leader, and National Geographic Explorer, who has dedicated her life to the defense of Indigenous ancestral territory and cultural survival in the Amazon rainforest. She is the co-founder of the Indigenous-led nonprofit organisation Ceibo Alliance and Amazon Frontlines. As the first female president of the Waorani organisation of Pastaza province, Nemonte led her people to a historic legal victory against the Ecuadorian government, which protected over half a million acres of primary rainforest in the Amazon from oil drilling and set a precedent for Indigenous rights across the region. She will be joined by Mitch Anderson,  her partner and co-author of the recently published book ‘We will not be Saved’. 

Liz Bonnin

Liz is a natural history and environmental broadcaster, National Geographic Explorer, and President of The Wildlife Trusts. She has presented over 40 primetime TV programs, including the BBC's BAFTA-winning “Blue Planet Live,” the Grierson and RTS - awarded documentary “Drowning in Plastic”, which investigated the ocean plastic crisis, and “Galapagos,” a three-part series that saw her document groundbreaking scientific research and descend to a depth of 1,000 meters in a submersible —the deepest anyone had gone on the archipelago. More recently she hosted “Dead River”, a six-part podcast on the story of the Mariana Dam collapse—the worst environmental disaster in Brazil’s history—and the fight for justice since, which led to the case being brought to the U.K. courts.
