Green Finance Lead Trustee

To take the lead in Council for Green Finance.
Deadline for applications: Monday 2nd June.

Key Duties:

1. Support the wider Trustees in developing their individual and collective understanding of Green Finance and that it is regularly considered throughout all relevant debates 

2. Ensure the information being provided to Council regarding Green Finance is adequate, appropriate and easily understood by all Trustees 

3. Help provide additional scrutiny and support to the senior staff leading on Green Finance initiatives ensuring policies, practices and risks are regularly reviewed and effectively reported on to Trustees 

4. Promote and support how Green Finance can be intrinsic in the delivery of our 3 Strategic Goals (see page 7 for more on our strategic goals), particularly Goal 3 (How Green Finance can facilitate nature to play a central and valued role in helping address local and global problems)

Desirable Skills:

  • The skills to analyse proposals and examine their consequences, especially regarding Green Finance projects and opportunities
  • Experience and strong working knowledge of nature markets, such as Biodiversity Net Gain, Nutrient Neutrality and Carbon Credits, as well as emerging markets like Natural Flood management
  • A clear understanding of global, regional and national nature-related frameworks, policies and initiatives, such as the TNFD, the Environmental Improvement Plan, as well as relevant components of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the CBD’s Global Biodiversity Framework
  • An awareness and understanding of appropriate financing products, services and mechanisms, such as loans, debt machanisms and investments that could be used to mobilise funds needed to establish nature-based products and services
  • Experience of charity governance procedures
  • An interest in nature and wildlife
