Watch the incredible transformation of a small scrap of land in central Derby
We all came together to take over this space which was a real problem for the residents that live around here.
We first visited Society Place in 2023 to learn about the problems local residents were experiencing with fly-tipping and other issues around this popular walkway. We heard from Community Organiser, Adam from Derby Wildlife Trust and Rebecca from the local council about their plans to work with the community to transform the space.
When we returned to Society Place in 2024, the space had been completely revived with plants and vegetables thriving in the raised beds, young trees growing and a bug hotel attracting insects and other wildlife to the area. This had all been achieved by the community, including Arboretum Primary School and local residents.
Have you been part of a community nature project?
We'd love to hear from you! Your experiences will be shared right here on the Community Hub and will inspire others to take action in their own neighbourhoods.
